Over 30 years of teaching music

GC Music Academy grew out of Guitar Collection, which opened as a neighbourhood guitar shop in TTDI in 1994. Lessons have been part of it for more than 30 years.

Today 31 teachers teach 17 instruments at our TTDI and 1 Utama branches, to children from age five and adults starting out.

Seventeen instruments, one teacher matched to you

Most lessons are one-to-one, so the pace is set by you. Group classes run for selected instruments and times if you'd rather learn alongside friends. We also run ensemble and band programmes.

Not sure where to start? Book a lesson bundle and try different teachers and instruments before you commit.

Classical, pop, rock, heavy metal, jazz, blues, fingerstyle or country: tell us what you want to play and we'll pair you with a teacher who plays it.

Taught by working musicians

Our teachers are trained musicians, and many hold music degrees or certifications. Most still perform, so lessons come with real stage and studio experience.

Whether you're preparing for a graded exam or just want to enjoy playing, we'll arrange the teacher who fits.

Lessons lead to the stage

Through the year we run student concerts, showcases, workshops and competitions. Students perform, meet working musicians, jam with each other and make friends who share the same passion.

If you love performing, sign up for the next one.

The questions parents and new students ask us most. Anything else, message us on WhatsApp.

What's the minimum age to start?

We welcome students of every age. For most instruments we recommend starting from age 5, and we have programmes for younger children as well as adults picking up an instrument for the first time.

I don't have an instrument yet. Can I still start?

Yes. Drums, amps, pianos and keyboards are provided during lessons. Having your own instrument helps you practise at home and progress faster, so we recommend getting one when you're ready.

You can also rent a practice studio at our TTDI or 1 Utama branch at a student rate.

I'm not sure which instrument to pick.

Try a lesson bundle first. With a bundle you can:

  • Book lessons with any teacher
  • Choose from several instruments
  • Mix and match your sessions
Should I choose individual or group lessons?

Most of our classes are individual, which gives you personal attention and a pace tailored to you. Group classes are available for selected instruments and times, and suit students who enjoy learning with friends.
